The wonderful thing about making acoustic guitars is that they are incredibly sensitive and complex instruments. Decades, careers, lifetimes have been spent trying to perfect or find the sound in the luthier’s head, but often it eludes us. Only time, experimentation and experience can help us get the results we are after.
Alvarez-Yairi guitars have held a special place in players’ hearts for nearly fifty years. Some of the greatest songwriters and guitarists ever to grace the planet have played them. So when we came to updating the Alvarez-Yairi Series, we did it with great care and the reverence it deserves.
Two years of development have resulted in us producing the finest guitars we have ever made. Eloquently voiced instruments, beautifully balanced with a charisma and tonal personality you will fall in love with.
(Please note: The production models have chrome Gotoh tuners)

L.R. Baggs StagePro Element Active System. Advanced Under saddle Pickup with Unrivaled Dynamic Range. Unlike typical under saddle acoustic guitar pickups that are dependent on string compression for their sound, the Element was engineered to mirror the soundboard’s actual movement as you play. At the heart of the pickup, a flexible film sensor only 2 thousandths of an inch thick picks up the guitar’s most delicate nuances. Tracking the motion of the top rather than a direct string attack suppresses “quack” caused by compression and unlocks the Element’s unrivaled dynamic range. Superb electronics for a superb guitar!
